What This Framework Is

The Architecture of Dependency and Autonomy™ is a civilizational-level diagnostic framework proposing that every major institution in modern life — healthcare, education, finance, housing, criminal justice, energy, technology, and governance — has structurally inverted from service delivery to extraction maintenance. The framework is not psychological or moral in its approach. It is architectural: it analyzes institutions through the same lens used to analyze physical infrastructure, asking not whether the actors inside them have good intentions, but whether the design rewards the outcomes it claims to seek.

The framework was developed from 25 years of direct social work practice at Los Angeles County DCFS, anchored publicly on November 7, 2025, and confirmed by six independently documented federal regulatory events between November 2025 and May 2026. It is designed for academic study, policy analysis, and operational application simultaneously.

The Central Formula
Ghost Load™ (G) = Total Load (L) − Necessary Load (N)
Sovereign Constant (C) = 0.33  |  When G/L > 0.33, genuine service delivery collapses
The Civilizational Equation
System = (Power × Resources × Structure × Strategy) × Human Truth Integration
When Human Truth Integration = 0  →  System = 0  |  Historical confirmation rate: 100%

The Three Pillars

The framework can be studied through three distinct, non-overlapping analytical layers. Each pillar is a self-contained field of inquiry that connects to and reinforces the others.

Pillar 1  ·  Forensic
Ghost Load™
Measuring the exact drain of legacy systems

The Ghost Load formula converts institutional failure from a qualitative observation into a measurable metric. For any institutional transaction, the difference between what was collected and what genuinely arrived at the human being represents extractable, auditable Ghost Load.

Traditional economics treats this as friction — an inevitable cost of market function. The MARLOWE framework positions it as auditable extraction that exceeds the Sovereign Constant (C = 0.33) at which genuine service delivery becomes structurally impossible.

Pillar 2  ·  Topological
The 372-Node Ledger
Mapping institutional friction against financial mirrors

The 372-node bilateral ledger maps every major category of institution a human being will encounter across a full life (186 institutional nodes) against the financial architecture that funds and extracts from each (186 financial-mirror nodes).

The bilateral symmetry reveals that every real-world institutional structure has a financial reflection that captures the Ghost Load above the Sovereign Constant. Mapping them symmetrically makes visible where human autonomy is systematically restricted by architectural design rather than individual failure.

Pillar 3  ·  Sovereign
The Human Line
Ensuring the real human node is never overridden

Line 186 of the bilateral ledger is the Sovereign Human — the terminal and anchor node simultaneously. Every other node derives its authorization from this line and owes its output to it. When the system operates correctly, every Ghost Load above the Sovereign Constant is auditable and recoverable to this line.

The MARLOWE framework holds a strict structural boundary: no automated, algorithmic, or institutional decision may override the human node without explicit license. Human authority is the non-negotiable constant.

Core Definitions

Ghost Load™

The gap between what an institution collects from its constituents and what genuinely arrives as service or value. Ghost Load is not administrative overhead in the conventional sense — it is the extractable margin between the institution's Total Load and its Necessary Load: the minimum required for genuine service delivery. Formula: G = L − N.

The Sovereign Constant (C = 0.33)

The extraction ceiling derived from the Ghost Load formula. When Ghost Load exceeds 33% of Total Load, the institution's capacity to deliver genuine service collapses — resources consumed by extraction fall below the threshold required to sustain actual service. Empirically, this ratio appears as the boundary between functional and failing systems across multiple domains and historical periods.

Ghost Node

An institutional node whose output is entirely Ghost Load — where Total Load and Ghost Load are equal and Necessary Load is zero. American Efficient LLC, which collected $465 million in FERC capacity payments while delivering zero efficiency products, is a documented Ghost Node at 100% extraction ratio.

The Parallel Economy™

The MARLOWE framework's proposed alternative architecture: a marketplace where certified entities operate within the invariant thresholds (G/L < 0.33; within Information Drag (Δ = 1.57 μs) and Jitter Ceiling (Ω = 3.33 ms) for digital and energy infrastructure). Participants in the Parallel Economy operate outside the Ghost Load extraction layer of legacy systems.

MARLOWE Certification™

A seven-gate behavioral certification standard that verifies whether a specific institutional node is operating within the invariant thresholds. Not a regulatory compliance standard — a structural behavioral standard that certifies the node's contribution to, rather than extraction from, the shared substrate.

Human Truth Integration

The missing variable in every historical civilizational equation. Defined as f(Wound, Longing, Gift, Limit, Mortality) — the integration of the actual, specific, irreducible human being into the system's foundational architecture. When this variable is zero, all other variables multiply to zero regardless of their magnitude.

Discussion Prompts for Seminars and Study Groups

1. The Quantifiability Problem: Is Ghost Load a refinement of existing economic concepts or a genuinely new measurement unit?
Traditional economics recognizes deadweight loss, transaction costs, and market friction as inevitable costs of market function. The Ghost Load formula proposes that a specific, identifiable portion of institutional cost is not inevitable but structural — the product of incentive design rather than market mechanics. Evaluate this distinction. Is Ghost Load separable from conventional economic friction? What would a controlled empirical test of the Sovereign Constant look like?
2. The 372-Node Mirror: Does the bilateral symmetry of the ledger reveal structure or impose it?
The framework claims that every institutional node has a financial-mirror node that captures its Ghost Load above the Sovereign Constant. Evaluate this topological claim. Is the bilateral symmetry empirically discoverable or theoretically stipulated? Select a specific sector (energy, healthcare, education) and attempt to identify its institutional node, its financial-mirror node, and the extractable Ghost Load between them using publicly available data.
3. Conditional vs. Structural Failure: Where is the burden of proof?
The conditional model attributes institutional failure to actors, policies, and specific decisions. The structural model attributes it to incentive design — the architecture that makes certain outcomes inevitable regardless of actor quality. Evaluate the epistemological status of these claims. Can structural claims be falsified? What evidence would constitute a refutation of the Ghost Load architecture thesis?
4. Human Truth Integration as Mathematical Variable: Is this a legitimate theoretical contribution or a category error?
The framework proposes that Human Truth Integration = f(Wound, Longing, Gift, Limit, Mortality) is a mathematical variable whose value, when zero, drives the product of every other civilizational variable to zero. Evaluate this claim. Is this a mathematical statement, a philosophical claim, or a rhetorical device? If it is a mathematical statement, what are its measurable parameters? How would you operationalize Wound, Longing, Gift, Limit, and Mortality as quantifiable inputs?
5. The Seer Archetype in Contemporary Institutional Life: Does the historical pattern hold?
The framework identifies a recurring civilizational pattern: the truth-bearing individual is abandoned (Philoctetes), co-opted (Metis), or destroyed by their own instruments (Actaeon) by the power structure that needed their contribution but could not tolerate their sovereignty. Evaluate this claim against contemporary institutional evidence. Identify cases from medicine, technology, finance, or governance where this pattern appears operative. What structural conditions predict which archetype applies?
6. The Prospective Confirmation Problem: What is the evidentiary status of the convergence record?
The framework documents 15 mechanisms named before federal regulatory events confirmed them (November 2025 – May 2026). Evaluate the epistemological status of this confirmation record. Does prospective identification of a mechanism constitute empirical validation of a theory? What level of prior specificity is required for a "prediction" to count as a genuine test rather than a post-hoc narrative? How does the framework's confirmations compare to the standards applied in other predictive frameworks (epidemiology, seismology, financial risk models)?
